    Oman Research Repository to be run through a cooperation program

    Oman’s Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation and Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) signed an agreement to run and manage the Oman Research Repository under the codename Shuaa. Dr. Rahma Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, and HH Sayyid Dr. Fahd Al Julanda Al Said, Vice Chancellor of SQU, signed the agreement.

    Oman Research Repository to be run through a cooperation programThrough the program, SQU will archive, review, and contract with data entry specialists as well as monitor the entries to the platform using the DSpace software. Shuaa’s electronic platform was launched concurrently with the signing ceremony. It is considered a central repository for Omani intellectual production.

    Shuaa is driven by the engagement of individuals, Omani academic institutions, higher education institutions, and research facilities. Shuaa publishes e-academic research papers through a single e-portal. Currently, over 10,000 full-text scientific resources have been uploaded to the platform. The committee plans to add another 10,000 resources annually, starting in 2022.
